Through Bluetooth, the Keyco device connects with the Keyco app on your smart phone or tablet. This connection allows your location services to pinpoint exactly where the Keyco Finder is located, giving you real-time information. To take advantage of the Keyco Finder, ensure:
• Bluetooth is enabled
• Location Services (GPS)is enabled
• Keyco app is running (especially IOS – due to the IOS background app policy)

One of the secret weapons of Keyco is the powerful community finder feature. It’s a bit like running a secret rescue mission right from your phone. Here’s how it works.

The Keyco app is constantly searching for Keyco tags that come in range. When it finds one, it notifies the finder’s account with the location of their item. Want to know when an update is made to your Keyco finder’s location? Simply turn the ‘Notify of Updates’ setting on within the app.

Don’t worry. The community finder system is anonymous and secure. Other users can’t see you (or the location of your items) and you won’t see them.

The volume on your Keyco device is adjustable, allowing you to establish the perfect level of alarm to meet your hearing needs. Decibels range from 131 Hz to 8000 Hz – you’re sure to find one that will work for you.

Wondering if you should be able to hear the alert? The locator icon in the Keyco app map will be green, signaling that you are in range of the item. Is the icon red? You’re out of range and will be able to see the last known location, but won’t be able to hear the alert.

A Bluetooth connection between the Keyco Finder device and our Keyco app is what drives the success of finding your items. That connection uses location services to provide you with real-time information about where your tagged items are at.

To take advantage of the Keyco Finder, ensure:
• Bluetooth is enabled
• Location Services is enabled
• Keyco app is running

Keyco has the longest range on the market, reaching a Bluetooth distance of 200 feet. That distance may vary, based on interference and surrounding materials. (ie: walls, keys, etc.)

To locate your items, Keyco uses Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 (BLE) technology. GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have varying rates of accuracy and is affected by outside influences. (Want to know more about Bluetooth? Go straight to the source.)

Out of range of your tagged item? The Community Finder system will update you if another Keyco user enters your item’s range. You’ll receive a pin alerting you to the location of the last contact with your Keyco tag. The Keyco Finder app map will also show the last location of your item when you were within range.

We make no claims regarding the health and safety risks associated with using a Keyco product, but recommend that anyone concerned about potential issues do their own research. The National Institute of Health has conducted an independent study on the health risks associated with Bluetooth technology and is available here.

Safety is one of our utmost considerations. We know the temptation to use the Keyco Finder to keep track of your pets and kids may be strong. However, we do not recommend using the Keyco system to track live subjects.

Bluetooth does not use the same methods employed by GPS, and has a higher rate of uncertainty if the tag moves out of range of the mobile device. Your kid’s jacket that they leave at random places? Perfect for Keyco. Your cat that takes off every time the door is opened? Not very effective.
